LOCATION :: New York, NY & Ballyowen Golf, NJ
DATE(s) :: July 28-30, 2008
:: Day 3 ::
Although Chol and I were disappointed at not having time for tee times at Bethpage Golf, home of the 2009 U.S. Open, we were treated to a great round at Ballyowen Golf Course, rated the #1 course in New Jersey. The course was in immaculate condition and had a very Irish/Scottish feel (e.g. the staff wore kilts and knickers; clover yardage markers) though it was nestled in the heart of Northern Jersey.
Courses played in the past couple weeks:
(1) Reston National – 6502 yds. Long. Course in great condition. GPS. 3 stars.
(2) Raspberry Falls – 6296 yds. Beautiful view, wide open, links style. GPS. 4 stars.
(3) General’s Ridge – 6214 yds. Humbling. Difficult. Unfair greens. No GPS. 1 star.
(4) Fairfax National – 6365 yds. Crowded. Pricey for what you get. No GPS. 2 stars.
(5) Ballyowen – 6508 yds. Immaculate condition. No GPS. 4 stars.
